Many IFAs go extra bullish on equity funds because they think equity as an asset class outperforms other investments over long periods. They talk about asset allocation but go overboard on equity. They try to convince the client to invest all their money in equity which is for the long term, say 10-20 years. However, during market downturns, it becomes difficult to make clients hold on. IFAs need to understand; it is easy to convince and sell. It is difficult to make them hold. Focus on proper asset allocation.
