It is to be noted that you get reasonable commissions only in the first year. Renewal commissions fall greatly from 2nd year whereas the client continues to pay the same premium every year. This is not a good deal. You should consider to give this benefit to the client by recommending online term plans. Remember, if you take care of clients interest; clients will take care of you.
How much exposure should I suggest my clients to have in Gold?
There are no fixed rules for this and it depends on client to client and their circumstances. However, you can consider having investments in gold upto 5-10% of clients portfolio. Should I suggest clients to invest in NPS?
Investment in NPS can be considered both for additional tax savings it offers as well as savings for retirement. It is a very good retirement product for clients. Also 60% of corpus can be withdrawn tax-free on vesting date. I think you must recommend NPS to your clients. You don’t make any commission by selling NPS but the client benefits. Should I advise equity funds or STP?
Risk is always more in one time investment and when markets fall, clients may panic. Depending upon risk appetite and time horizon (if more than 5 years), you can go for lumpsum in large cap and multicap funds. Having said this, it is always better to invest through SIP and STPs.
